There are two ways to get to the overlook. One is by way of a boardwalk from a parking lot off the park road and the other is a 1/2 mile round-trip hike from Mather Lodge. We tried both ways, and I enjoyed each perspective. From the boardwalk:
From the trail:
I've heard some people have been disappointed in the waterfall depending on what time of year they've gone. It's definitely recommended to go in the spring or fall when there's been rain. Our early June trip gave us a wonderful experience.
The Younger Son took some video from the boardwalk:
I especially like the first view from the boardwalk. Falls are beautiful wherever they are.

I agree about waterfalls. I was so glad there'd been enough water to make the falls so visible :)
DeleteI enjoyed it from both directions. I love waterfalls and this one didn't disappoint. With all the spring rain, I suspect that helped, too. Of course, I also enjoyed the flora you showed along the way. Wonderful trails, both.
ReplyDeleteI read your comment yesterday about your lack of supplies. Colored pencils make great art, too. Of course, I'm sure the people at Michael's who are crafty folk, will help you find something you want to make.
I've been told (even though you apparently have to join before you can see anything) Pinterest has some great, great ATCs. On my right sidebar, under Eye Candy and Freebies, although quite old is this link:

and this one:

Both of the above are on the first page. Of course, if you want to see them all, here is the place to go to find them based on subject matter:

Hope you find some inspiration there, on Pinterest, or at Michael's.
I saw sooo much at Pinterest! I'll definitely check out those to links from your sidebar. Thx :) I may pick up some index cards and cut them in half to use for the base. I've seen some folks use fabric, metal, and wood. There are a lot of options it seems. I need some kind of glue/paste at Michael's.
Deleteoh what lovely views! I would like to go there for a walk...regardless of how much water is going over the falls! great photos...happy T day very late :)
ReplyDeleteBlogs are open 24/7 ;) I say you are never late lol
DeleteWho does not love a waterfall? There is something spiritual about water, I think, perhaps it´s to do with the first sacrament. I always have been happier living near water. Imagine having a waterfall outside one´s window and hear the soft sound of it every day...Great photos!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite loud, so I'm not sure I'd want it outside my window. I'd love running water within walking distance, though. I think you're right about the spirituality connection. There's a cleansing aspect to running water.
