Cinnamon Coffee

Years ago someone taught me that you could fancy up that Folgers coffee with some cinnamon. We really like the way it tastes. I add 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon per coffee measure scattered over the coffee grounds in the drip coffeemaker.

We had a recipe that was just as easy for orange coffee that used dried orange peel from the spice aisle, but we've lost the recipe and haven't been able to reconstruct it. I'd love to be able to have that again. I thought maybe a bit of sugar added to the orange peel would get rid of the bitterness, but that didn't work.

The cup and saucer pattern is Tunisia, and I got it from Pier 1 years ago.

Bleubeard and Elizabeth host a T(ea) party every Tuesday. Join in!

  1. Love your cup and saucer...I am always tempted by blues!
We used to add cinnamon to the coffee grounds too because of supposed health benefits?
Things kinda come and go it seems...

  6. I had a friend who used to put a pinch of cinnamon in the pot of coffee she'd make for us when we'd get together with our kids for play dates. It was delish and I still sometimes add a pinch of cinnamon to mine:) Happy T day!

  7. Since my kitchen is all blue and copper accents, this cup and saucer really spoke to me. I've added a cinnamon stick to coffee before, but never ground it with the beans. Sounds like something I might have to try. I hope you find the orange peel recipe. It also sounds like something I would enjoy.

Happy July. I hope you are starting to see some sun and less rain. Thanks for sharing this during T this week.

  8. That's a gorgeous cup and saucer, makes me think of Arabian Nights. Maybe you need some Arabian coffee beans now. Haven't tried the cinnamon/coffee but perhaps I will. I usually like my coffee as it comes. BTW, Peets started in Berkeley and for years only had a handful of stores. Maybe you'll get a store in your neighborhood one day.

    1. Oh, I hope we get a Peets coffee shop. We do have some great independents here, but I don't think any of them use Peets.

  13. What a great cup! I have never tried any recipes to alter perking coffee with cinnamon or orange but it does sound interesting. Maybe you could google the orange rind recipe. They have almost everything online these days. :) Happy T-Day!

  14. I like a wee bit of cinnamon in coffee. I bought a tiny grater with a couple of cinnamon sticks--easier just to shake it on :)
Love your cup and saucer, it looks like there should be tea leaves to be read there :)
