Tea Cup Memories
The other day, I drank Constant Comment tea in one of Mother's cups. These are the cups we always used at her place when we would drink tea or coffee. For years I'd go over to her apartment every Friday morning. We'd have a muffin she had made, drink a cup of Constant Comment tea in one of these cups, and then we'd go to the grocery store together. She got to where she cut back on her muffin eating. I would eat two or three, and she would eat one. Then she would cut them in half and eat one-half. Then she wouldn't finish the half. That is a scary trend and doesn't lead to a happy place.
The pattern is Octagon White Ironstone and seems to have come from Sears, although I don't remember where they got it. So long ago. Many fond memories involving these cups.
Please join the T-Tuesday Parties over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's place.

Constant comment....that makes me think of my mother too...but not for the tea. ;) Silence is her enemy...she chatters pretty much constantly. Gotta love her! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
lol
DeleteI like Ironstone and your cup is a lovely piece. Constant Comment was my favorite tea years ago and I still have a cup of it once in awhile. Nice to have those memories of Friday with your Mom. I can understand that they may be bitter sweet at the moment though.

the memories of our fridays aren't too bad. we did have some fun back then, even in the everyday things.
DeleteI miss my Mom too, and have the same type of memories.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing today.
Happy T-day
thx for your sweet words :)
DeleteIt's nice to have lovely memories connected with tea! I used to drink tea with my Grandmother so I have nice memories, too.
ReplyDeletetea & coffee & time together. it's good when i remember the better times
DeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts about this cup. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeletethank you. i'm hoping the weeks will get better as time passes.
DeleteLet the healing begin, dear friend. These are especially fond memories, at least until the very end. So glad you were able to join us today. It hasn't felt like T(ea) Tuesday without you!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful cup and saucer. I especially like the octagonal design.
yes, i know the healing will be slow, but the grief counselor can help guide me.
Deletei like the octagonal shape, too
My grandma used to drink Constant Comment tea, too. It seems like it's a very nostalgic drink for many of us... Take care!
ReplyDeletethx! i was introduced to constant comment tea by my college roomie, & i spread the word when i can. it's one of my favorites.
DeleteIt is lovely when you have treasured memories of loved ones.
ReplyDeleteyes, i'm grateful that i do have such a long history of fond memories of her.
DeleteThis cup and saucer looks like a set we bought when we got married...but ours were black. Loved the shape of those plates. memories...♥
ReplyDeletei have a black octagonal cup, but just the cup. i like the different shape. something just a bit unusual.
DeleteNice cup and saucer, can't say I remember any of my mums cups...think she never let us as kids to use them! Happy very late T day!
ReplyDelete((Lyn)) #13 (last!)
these are the cups i remember best. the noritake pattern she got when she married broke through the years, and the cups & saucers were all gone before i'd have been able to use them.
DeleteIsn't it funny how different cups can evoke such memories. I remember my Mum's coffee cans which had huge sunflowers on and yellow saucers. One day when we were talking about them Mum gave me the coffee jug which I love - so retro. No cups left unfortunately. Maybe I will make some coffee in it for a Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteAs for my camomile and honey tea, that is how the t-bags came. I didn't add any extras in. I only tend to add honey into the "savoury" herbal teas (eg nettle), not sweet. If I do add honey then it is from our own bees.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs
xx
ooo honey from your own bees! i'm impressed. i used to know somebody who had bees. they were very worried about the decrease in the bee population over the years.
