The Daughter had brought me a package of these Ballerina cookies (they call them biscuits over there) from her trip to Sweden, and I had been doing the "save them for nice" "thing". I finally decided "nice" had come! The Daughter came over and joined me for coffee and cookies. Google translates the company's description this way:
Since 1963, Ballerina merry Swedes with its unique smooth and creamy nougat and its characteristic appearance. Ballerina is Sweden's most beloved biscuit and Göteborgs Kex's largest brand. Every tenth packet of biscuits sold in Sweden is a Ballerina package and every second eats an average of six people a Oreos.Ya gotta love it. My mind is picturing 6 merry Swedes being eaten by Oreos. No, really, I do understand what it means, I think, but it's still funny.
The cookies are very good, not too sweet.
The cup is one of the few I've come across that have snowmen on them without being Christmas-y.

You've gotta love that translation. I'll have the image in my mind all day. Your cookies look good. It is always fun to get a little treat from far away isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDarla
yes, i love the treat of something different
DeleteThose cookies look like IKEA cookies. Makes sense...Swedish after all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
i didn't know ikea sold food, so i googled it and wow!
DeleteWhat a graceful and delicate name for a cookie as they pirouette down the hatch ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day with your cute snowman mug!
oxo
the name made me feel so elegant as i finished off the package ;)
Deleteoh, the cookies sound divine...and love the cute mug! stay warm...
ReplyDeletewe actually had a sprinkling of snow on the ground yesterday morning, and a low last night predicted of 9! i'll be needing a hot drink for warmth
DeleteOooh, while I'm sure your ballerina cookies were delightful, I do love me some Oreos! And the snowman mug is still perfect for this time of year. Thanks for sharing on this T-day! Hugs xo
ReplyDeletethe ballerina cookies were a treat, indeed, though i also like the oreos :) i'm hoping to be able to put away the snowman mug soooon! lol
DeleteI had to laugh at the translation. Sometimes we can't translate the way things actually make sense, which is always good for a laugh, just like today's translation. I've had those Ballerina cookies before. A friend brought them to me after a trip to Europe one year. You are right. They are not really sweet.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the mug. It's really appropriate for this cold, blustery weather we are having, too. Thanks for sharing during T(ea) today.
machine translations are a trip, aren't they lol. this cold! brrrrrr!
DeleteLooks like that snowman is enjoying the bite from that cookie :) Perfect mug for my neck of the woods with all the frigid air and snow we've been getting. Happy T day!
ReplyDeletei'd almost enjoy getting snow if we have to have the cold like this. a bit of snow might make the cold worth it. schools are being cancelled around here because of the cold alone, with no more than an occasional snowflake in sight. so strange.
DeleteI call them biscuits, too! lol It is amazing how some translations get lost from one language to another
ReplyDeletetranslations by people almost always make more sense, but these are so funny lol
DeleteLoving your snowman mug. As for your biscuits I am on my way over.
ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
oops! i finished them off, but i have some cake and tea. come on over :)
DeleteThose biscuits look yummy (Even in India there are only 'biscuits' no 'cookies') and such a cute snowman mug.
ReplyDeleteSusan
my daughter loved their expressions when she described to them what it is we call a biscuit. lol
DeleteThat´s a classic! It´s the ONLY cookie and I have eaten it all my life.
ReplyDeletethey are a treat, but chocolate chip, vanilla wafers, sandwich cookies, peanut butter cookies... that's what we usually have. i'm going to see if i can find these ballerinas in any of our stores here
