Senses of Cinema has an interesting article. 97% of Rotten Tomatoes critics gave it a positive review. Roger Ebert has it on his list of Great Movies.

I remember how attractive abelia was to butterflies when I was child, and it serves to attract hummingbirds and some butterflies now. I have it planted along part of the fence on both sides of my patio.
The abelia is lovely. I hope it doesn't get too tall though so the new neighbor chops off the top of it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does get tall. Hopefully I can keep it on my side.
DeleteIt is an interesting myth. So many treatments of it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I prefer something that sticks closer to the original story.
DeleteHopefully your new neighbor and her "gardening" won't interfere with your beautiful plant
ReplyDeleteI was out there yesterday working along that side of my patio, and I can't for the life of me tell what she's doing *sigh*
DeleteI don't like reading movies, however, I do like black and white movies. I will try this one. Really beautiful Abelia. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear what you think. I'm thinking "inspired by" would be a better description that "based on".
DeleteI can't watch the video because it's not supported in our country (that's what the screen says) but I see your Abelia and it looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best

Thanks for putting where you watched it. So darn many places these days--lol!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look like a plant I recognize. Anything that attracts hummingbirds and butterflies is good. Bees, too? :)
Yes, bees, too. Abelia is evergreen here and quite common in landscape plantings.
Delete...abelias is one of those plants that doesn't grow here.
ReplyDeleteThis kind is evergreen here and tolerant of the heat and cold we get here.
DeleteBeautiful plant, have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteInteresting plant. I've got to look that up. Like you I plant things that I know will bring the Hummers & Butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI have a small patio, so I have to plant with some efficiency lol
DeleteGreat blog
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGreat blog
ReplyDeleteI may have to watch this one. I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteIt's an interesting take on the story.
DeleteI've bookmarked Orpheus on YT to watch later. I love foreign subtitled films and shows! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI like them, too, though they do require a more focused attention for me.
DeleteThat is a beautiful plant. I planted bee balm and it attracts bees and hummingbirds and butterflies. Mine is in a pot, of course.
ReplyDeleteI have bee balm in the bed next to the black-eyed susans. I love those!
