Death on the Nile (2022)

Death on the Nile (2022) in the second Kenneth Branagh Poirot adaptation, and I've been looking forward to it since I saw his Murder on the Orient Express. I admit I liked the first one better, and I believe Suchet is the more perfect Poirot, but still... I hope Branagh will contine to make these. At least one more. Please. I watched it on HBO Max.

  1. These are fun. Branagh makes a wonderful Poirot

  3. I'm glad to see this is on HBO-Max, which I am keeping until the Julia Child show ends. Thanks for the heads up Nita. Hope you haven't had any more storms-as I saw on the news you were in the "hot" zone.

    1. We had wall-to-wall local weather coverage on the local channels. It went through Shelby County but north of us. We got wind and rain and thunder/lightening. There are some trees down, and some areas flooded, but it was not nearly as bad as they got just a few miles north of us.

    1. He takes liberties, and he's not Poirot, but I've enjoyed them.

  5. I really liked this version (I saw the Ustinov about a week later!). I need to go back to the book but one of the things I liked best that I don't remember from other versions (I missed the opening of the Ustinov) is how he gave Poirot a bit of a back story, explaining in part his moustache. I love Branagh and I hope he makes more, too.

    1. Branagh does want to explain things, doesn't he.

  6. I saw the reviews and previews for Murder on the Orient Express and it was hard for me to replace Suchet as the little fastidious Belgian with a big "in-your-face" man like Branagh. When I think of Branagh, I think of Wallander, the role he played that aired on PBS for many years. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it, though. I'm hoping to cut the cable soon and get Brit Box, so it may show up there.

    1. Branagh actually acts :) and does a good job bringing Poirot to life I think. He's definitely a different Poirot than Suchet, but I appreciate his version, too.

  9. I had this in my watchlist and since you brought it up...
Watched it and enjoyed it. I do love Kenneth Branagh and I think he does a fine Poirot. Different but he made it very much his own. The one who really surprised me was Russell Brand! Hardly recognized him and such an opposite character than he is in real life. I hope they make more with Branagh. :)

    1. I like that he makes Poirot his own and doesn't try to imitate Poirot but at the same time he does very much seem to be Poirot :)
