Redbuds, Tulips, and the Memphis 10

The Memphis 10 is a group of women who meet regularly to share about art. The Memphis Botanic Gardens has a display of some of their work, and I went to see it. Nothing in particular struck me enough to make me think I might spend hundreds of dollars to buy a piece. You can see a sampler of some of the works here and read a bit about the artists.

The redbud trees are in bloom and I took a few pictures of them as I wandered the gardens.

It was a lovely day, sunny and in the low 70sF. The tulips were also in bloom:

  1. The spring blooms look gorgeous. We have nothing like that yet so I really enjoyed looking at these photos! Hugs-Erika

  2. I clicked to see the Memphis 10 and I didn't care for any of their art. It looked like typical art and craft fair stuff that is put out by painters. Nothing I saw even made me want to learn more about these women. Their work is too predictable in my opinion.

BUT, I loved the gardens. My neighbor has a redbud growing in her yard and I took a photo of it yesterday. One of my tulips has bloomed, but the profusion of color and beautiful landscaping was captured by YOU! These is some wonderful photos of the gardens.

    1. I've only had tulips once -they seem so short-lived here- but I love these beds full of them when I go to gardens like this. I love the redbuds year-'round. Those leaves! And I love the shape of the trees. I've spent many a happy hour climbing them :)

  3. I have some daffodils blooming but it is still about a month away for my redbud tree. Northern Ohio is a wonderful place but spring doesn't follow the calendar.

    1. I'm thinking about potting some daffodils just so I can see them without going somewhere else :) I love our early Springs. The dogwood tree next door is already blooming here.

  4. OMG every photo wants to be a postcard! I also checked out the 10 ladies art and I am of the same opinion as Elisabeth, I guess. The daffodils.... [sigh]

    1. So glad you like the photos :) They have an actual photography garden, but the whole place just begs for an even better camera.

  5. The gardens are beautiful at this time of year. I suspect they are at any time but I happen to like tulips.

I visited the art link. I couldn't enlarge the pictures but the only one that interested me was the barn (?) in the field. Being part of an artists group like that sounds interesting though.

    1. Oh, yes, the spring flowers makes this time of year glorious in this park :) The artists group would be such a support, I think, for like-minded and talented people. Just for me, the prices were way too high for me to even consider. The last time I spent real money on the house was years ago when I bought a couch ;)
