No, not the mug. That's one of my favorite mugs! I picked it up at BoJo's antique mall before they sadly tore it down and replaced it with an eyesore.
No, I mean the coffee brand. We have found some coffee that's every bit as good as Peet's. Maybe better, since it's a locally roasted Memphis "thing". The back of the package says,
This coffee... Hails from Memphis, the Seattle of Southwestern Tennessee - Is purchased, roasted and packaged with a little something we like to call integrity - Reminds us of a time before the double mint mocha decaf skim latte ruled the Earth - Knows good looks will only get you so far - Speaks without resorting to faux European words, except faux - Understands you. Maybe too well - Works best with one or two tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 ounces of water - Is the latest bundle of joy from Ugly Mug Coffee.Definitely worth checking out. Here in Memphis we can buy it all over town, including at Kroger. Elsewhere I'm not sure about availability, but you can order it from their website. We like the Hardy Passion blend best, but you can get one called Memphis Blend and one called Blue Suede Shoes.
This is now our go-to favorite coffee!
Bleubeard and Elizabeth host a weekly T Party at their blog, and they are quite welcoming. Go check it out.
I'm not a coffee drinker, but I loved the description! Since I am a big Elvis fan I probably could be persuaded to at least sip the one called Blue Suede Shoes, LOL! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteyes, it's hard not to love "Memphis, the Seattle of Southwestern Tennessee" lol
DeleteThose are the BEST mugs! I remember when every restaurant used them for coffee.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like MY kind of coffee, just plain coffee that speaks to you....LOL
Thanks for the for the visit and Happy T-day
and now these mugs are so hard to find! my husband has one just like this but a bit larger. they hold in the heat well.
DeleteI like coffee AND I like tea...
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy great packaging and the Ugly Mug certainly fills the bill...
nice to support local businesses too
especially when it is a good product.
Happy T Day to ya
oxo
p.s. nice mug you have there
there are about 3, i think, local coffee roasters. it must be a current fad. i hope it lasts :)
DeleteThat mug brings back all kinds of memories: memories of coffee houses and tourist traps along the interstate. Fun.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing about Peets from T posters, but have never seen or heard of it in my town. However, the Ugly Mug brand sounds fun, funky, and funny. They had me at "faux European." I'll check them out (thanks for the link), since I'm partial to French Roast.
Thanks for sharing your straight coffee today in your not-so-ugly mug!
i love a business with a quality product _and_ a sense of humor lol
DeleteI love antique malls...dollar stores, not so much, but they sure are everywhere! guess I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur 'cause I haven't heard of Ugly Mug coffee, but it's a great name! I do love stuff with quirky names...and mugs that just 'feel right' in your hand...
ReplyDeletei think the family dollar company is engaged in a saturation campaign here. ugly mug coffee is fairly new and local, but growing. they've done a great job with the coffee!
DeleteI love the description of your Ugly Mug coffee. How true to the origins of coffee. Glad to hear you are enjoying it so. Happy T-day!
ReplyDeleteya gotta love local fun :)
DeleteI'd have a really hard time giving up Peet's. That company started here in Berkeley and has produced my favorite coffee for years. If I were local - or found Ugly Mug Coffee locally - I'd certainly try Blue Suede Shoes. I like the quirky feeling of the company.
ReplyDeleteDarla
oh, don't get me wrong, we'll not be giving up peet's lol we just like a little variety.
DeleteI do enjoy coffee as well as tea and I bet I'd like this one-love the description :)
ReplyDeletei do get a kick out of their light-hearted humor :)
DeleteI haven't heard of this before, love the name though. That mug is perfect I think, simple and clean and just the right size for something HOT!! Enjoy your beverage and thank you for sharing with us. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeletethe thick walls on this cup are _perfect_ for coffee and hand-warming. though hand warming isn't needed this time of year ;)
DeleteHappy T Day, and thanks for your kind comment regarding my purple cards. I had to giggle at the name of your coffee, and at the packaging blurb as well. It sounds great, and local brands are usually wonderful. Enjoy your coffee!
ReplyDeletei like the idea of a local brand and was so happy when it tasted so good.
DeleteI love my coffee (and am missing it right now) and especially love coffee with some history and flair. Happy T-Day! :)
ReplyDeleteyes, flair! the perfect word for what they did!
DeleteHappy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteThe name and what they put on the back of their package is good enough reason to try them. Glad to hear that they even taste good. Great mug you have too. Reminds me of old diners.
yes, i remember mugs like this in old diners.
DeleteLocally produced food and drink is always wonderful. I can't drink coffee as it makes me sick, but I do drink tea grown here in Australia
ReplyDeletelocal is always fresher, and i like to support businesses that are run by people who live in the community.
DeleteI love coffee and Thank you for sharing this new brand here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Susan
a great coffee must be shared :)
DeleteMmmmn. I can smell that coffee from here. Want one now. Thanks.
