Caritas Village

The Daughter and I were looking for a place to eat where neither of us had been, and I remembered Caritas Village.

You order at the counter, then take your number to a table. Your food is brought to you. The Daughter had the hamburger and the soup of the day, which was tomato/basil. I had the Osho burger and chips. She had iced tea. I had coke.

Our total was $15. You can see the menu online here. The burgers were great! The hamburgers were huge and neither of us could finish. We want to go back and try more things, especially the chicken salad and scones.

The Daily Helmsman has information on the founding of this place. The I Love Memphis blogger has some good photos of the interior and says, "I love that it’s part coffee shop, part art gallery, part meeting hall, and part living room. They’ve easily got the friendliest staff in Memphis." Best Memphis Burger says, "I give Caritas Village Osho Burger 4.5 out of 5 stars. The flavor is all there – Great Burger!" Norococo likes it and has great pictures. Dining With Monkeys says, "Caritas Village is a lovely place to spend a few hours either alone, or with your family. Now that we've finally found that out firsthand, I expect we'll make it one of our regular stops." The Memphis Flyer likes it. Foodie Memphis approves. Go Memphis describes it as "A warm and welcoming restaurant in a neighborhood community center that so happens to be run by a trained chef." It has a score of 93% at Urban Spoon. Yelp has 7 reviews, all positive. Caritas has a Facebook page here.
