Bill Branch Art Exhibit

"Watercolors by Bill Branch" is the current art exhibit at the Memphis Botanic Gardens. The artist has a website here. There is some information about him at ArtistsLink.org. He was born in Arkansas but lives here in Memphis now.

My favorite is a huge triptych of the Memphis bridge, but it's much too large to fit anywhere in our little place. You can see the work online: panel 1, panel 2, panel 3. I'd love to have it over a couch or something, but our couch is not against a wall. And our couch is not that big.

Others I saw that I particularly liked are one of daffodils (view here) and a painting of sunflowers at Shelby Farms (view at the artist's web site here).

A portion of the proceeds from the sales goes to the Botanic Gardens.

  1. Those are some gorgeous paintings! I particularly like the way he uses his water in the landscapes, and how he draws with such confidence. The pet portraits are also very charming.

I notice that he sells both original works and posters on his website. I could be tempted, and those would be great gifts. Do you know how much he wants for that triptyk of the Memphis bridge?

    1. the original bridge piece on display at the botanic gardens is $1200. the smaller 2 were $200 and $250, i think. they have all been matted and framed. i didn't think the prices were too bad, but i honestly don't know anything about original art. i did like his work.

  2. Enjoyed the links. The sunflowers would make me very happy every time I looked at them.
