The National Film Board of Canada, in association with the Cannes Short Film Corner and partner YouTube, welcomes you to this NFB competition, now in its fifth year.

Its your turn to choose. Internet votes will decide the best film, and the winner will be announced at Cannes on May 21.

    Nice but otherwise bland short film. I think that the best part of the film was the robot design although I'd take points off for the "eyebrow" thing that the lens did. Maybe they could've had the lens change color or brightness or something like that instead.

    Really, you could predict 95% of what was going to happen - The robot is tethered, tries to break the tether & when it breaks the tether the robot loses power. Not exactly bold & revolutionary.

    Granted, it's a short film & it should be judged on those merits but even on the merits of a 3+ minute "film" there's just... Nothing there. Again, great robot design that has some potential but without any fresh story... It's a great student project to put on your resume & little else.

  2. I thought it was a sad little story. But I agree it was predictable. I told my daughter I want the guy in the film to come home from work and give the robot batteries.
