The Fabulous Journey of Mr. Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit, Across the Wild Land, Through the Dark Forest, Beyond the Misty Mountains. There and Back Again
The Hobbit is a 1985 Soviet television adaptation of the book with the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien. This hour-long version has a certain charm, though the limits of its origins are obvious.

I will have to check this out when I have a little time. One of those faces looks kind of blue scary, so maybe not as hobbitty as we think, but it's peaked my curiosity for sure. happy Sunday. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe hobbits and dwarves are played by average-sized actors, and the special effects make no effort to make them look smaller. And now it's been taken down. Bummer :( I'll see if I can find a replacement.
DeleteYes, it's too bad they removed the film, but from the looks of the trailer, I see what you mean about the special effects. It was a nice gesture, even if it failed in the end!
ReplyDeleteIt's on youtube in Russian without subtitles, but that's not much help to me ;)
DeleteAt least it was dubbed according to the trailer, but can't see the movie. I have trouble with subtitles with my wonky eye. ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't found a dubbed version. I think it's odd the Russian version is still up but the ones with English subtitles are no longer there :(
DeleteGlad you enjoyed this film while it was still available and thanks for the recommendation 😁. Wishing you a happy new week! J 😊
ReplyDeleteMovies come and go, but I admit I expected this one to remain available. Ah, well. We spent the week on vacation, so yes a happy week :) And now we have snow! :)
Deletethis reminds me of those old 'Sinbad the sailor' movies.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching one as a child and being so afraid of a woman that turned herself into a seagull.
The effects look similar.
I remember those old Sinbad movies. So much fun!
