The World Health Organization is going to research the potential risks of plastic in drinking water. According to the BBC, "It comes after journalism organisation Orb Media found plastic particles in many major brands of bottled water." The BBC also reports that "Tests on major brands of bottled water have found that nearly all of them contained tiny particles of plastic."
Get a good water filter if you need one, and drink water from the tap. Maybe add a bit of lemon.
Please join the weekly blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth, where I feel certain nobody else will fuss at you ;) It's just that plastic water bottles are a pet peeve of mine. But I'll stop now, honest. I'll even add a treat with coffee to make up for it:
Happy T Stands for Tuesday!
Such an important message and I totally agree with you, I've been drinking tap water for quite a few years ...lol 😉. A cup of tea and that yummy looking lemon meringue pie would suit me fine, thank you! Wishing you a Happy T Tuesday! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteA very important message! We have our own reusable bottles for hiking and days out. So much plastic out there though, and I will stop buying face wipes now too.
ReplyDeletei´m also drinking water from the tap. plastic really is a pest! thanks for spreading the word! happy t-day:)
ReplyDeletewow that is scarey-plastic in our water bottles-I usually don't buy those either. pie looks delicious-one of our favorites
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day Kathy
Tap water is good, why pay money for bottles? Your lemon merangue pie looks great. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletelove the cheery lemon/yellow theme going on here:) We use a water filter but honestly do on rare occasion buy a bottle of water if we forgot to bring our own. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if my internet is happy with me today.
ReplyDeleteThe plastic bottles are a pet hate of mine.
Your cake looks yummy and now I will try this one last time to send you T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I refuse to buy bottled water, when I have to pay for it at home out of the tap. I have a Britta, but I seldom use it unless I have company coming. I've read about carcinogens leaking out of the plastic into the water, but had no idea about tiny plastic particles in the water. Not only is that scary, it is dangerous to our digestive tracts. So glad you pointed out this research.
ReplyDeleteThat pie looked wonderful and I really like the colorful yellow mug and blue plate together. Thanks for the research info and for sharing your pie and coffee with us this Tuesday.
I can't drink my tap water. I have so much iron in my water that I would need a new britta every day. I do buy gallons of water-in plastic unfortunately, but it's better than my tap water. That being said, I do get what you are saying about water bottles and drinking from them all or most of the time. Your pie looks yummy too. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to get a filter for our water sometime in the future. Sadly, filters are so expensive. In the meantime, we use city water. Your lemon meringue pie is cut beautifully! YUM!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
We are all anti-water bottles here, too. Carry thermoses and drink filtered water or from tap.
ReplyDeleteWell Divers... we get notices about our water all the time...Always seems to be an issue with it that comes up that i don't feel safe drinking it or using it for cooking... So we use water in gallon jugs and the little bottles of water. I will tell you that i recycle every single one.. Happy happy Belated T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteEven before we had to get the water filtration system, we drank our tap water. I do take a small bottle of water with me when I go to teach. Some thermoses and travel mugs I've tried to use instead of the plastic bottles have leaked all over my bag. I do recycle the plastic bottles.
ReplyDeleteQuite right you are! I have had a filter for donkey's years and I drink tap water. In this country (and in most European countries) the tap water is very good. It just tastes better when i filter it. I don't drink bottled water but that has more to do with the price than the particles, which I hadn't heard about really. Why pay for a bottle of water when you can getit for free at home. Besides the plastic bottles pollute the environment. And I get so angry when I am not allowed to bring my own water on a flight. I have to pay a ridiculously high price for bottled water once I get past security.
ReplyDeleteBy the way... can I have a piece of that lemon meringhe pie please. It looks delicious. My mouth is watering.
Wishing you a good week,
A belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
Our tap water is good and we do have insulated mugs. We also have poor memories. So the mugs sit and we go out and then we get thirsty and.... oops....water in a plastic bottle. I hate soda so its always water for me. Like other, I'm careful about recycling plastic but I'm going to try harder to remember my take away mug.
ReplyDeleteI don't drink water except in thirst emergencies, D. So I guess I'm safe. But pure drinking water is a big concern worldwide. Your T-day photo is lovely. Blue, yellow and white is a cheerful color combo that puts a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
I am happy that our tap water is good - I am always drinking tap water or tea, and never buy water in plastic bottles, because I don't like the soda. All the plastic is a danger for the whole world.
ReplyDeleteYour blue yellow coffee set looks delicious!
Happy belated T Day!
