The NYT opens its review with this: "There are no neat, glamorous or witty vampires in "The Addiction." Instead, Lili Taylor portrays the vampire as grungy graduate student in philosophy, quoting Feuerbach before she bites."
Moria says, "The Addiction has a tendency to leave one feeling like they are being hit over the head by the collected works of Western nihilist philosophy" but calls it "a powerful and complex reworking of the central metaphors of vampirism." Rotten Tomatoes has a 73% critics score.
Ahh. I had forgotten that October has arrived and you are featuring these ghoulish films. I really like Christopher Walken, so this one might appeal to me. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteWalken is good in this, but then I like him, too :)
DeleteI really like Christopher Walken, too, even when he's in some pretty lame bombs he always gives it his best. I missed this one. Not on Netflix. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can watch it embedded above. Somebody uploaded it to Youtube 3 years ago, and it's still there. Walken has a something that makes anything he's in worth watching.
DeleteOh, okay! I didn't realize it was the whole movie. I hadn't clicked on it. Thanks. I'll take some time later to watch it. :)
DeleteI'm always amazed at what's available online. I've bought a lot of movies that I'd never have bought otherwise because I was able to watch them online first. I'm loathe to buy something unless I know I'll want to re-watch it.
