Book #3 for the Book Awards Challenge.
Promised Land, a Spenser mystery by Robert B. Parker, is a period piece if I ever saw one. This book is full of descriptions of men with 70's hair in leisure suits and colorful shirts, lengthy conversations on how sexually liberated people are being and folks ranting at each other about the evils of male domination. The characters are stereotypes from the mid-70's; I felt like I was in a time warp. It won the Edgar Award in 1977.
