1. Mulholland Drive (David Lynch, 2001)I've seen the ones in bold print. Well, that's pathetic. And I think of myself as someone who likes film. I do have Mulholland Drive, There Will Be Blood, Eternal Sunshine, and Yi Yi on DVD in the huge, neverending to-be-watched pile. With a kajillion other movies I'm sure are less worthy of my attention. The question is whether I can possibly live long enough to see them all. sigh

I did click through to read the entire list. I'm not wanting to critique the BBC or its sources or its list, but I lose any respect for any "greatest" list that includes The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Just sayin'.

I am obviously NOT a film watcher, because I have only seen No Country for Old Men. That's saying something about me, too, I guess. Most of these I've never heard of. Thanks for sharing, though.
ReplyDeleteSpirited Away is anime and worth watching. I've seen it several times. The ones I have on DVD are on another list I'm working my way through, and are supposed to be great movies. I'll get to them. Eventually.
DeleteI love lists like this but am surprised I have only seen 2 of the top 10. Its a little disappointing. I was happy to see I've seen at least a few more on the top 100, and that Finding Nemo made it because I must say I love that movie. I know its for kids but it is a great kids film. I must say I need to catch up on some foreign films, and maybe this is a good starting place. Thanks for posting this! :) Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed in myself when I saw how few of the top 10 I'd read but disappointed in the list when I clicked through to read the 100 film names. I'm going to stick with the other lists I've seen ;)
DeleteI've seen six of them. But when I looked for some of the ones I haven't seen they were rated three or less stars out of five on netflix, so I think I'll pass. Except for the Separation, which I already had in my queue.
ReplyDeleteTree of Life is a strange movie that people either love or hate. I loved it--or was fascinated by it. But then, I do have odd tastes in movies sometimes--LOL!
I had never heard of Tree of Life. I also have odd taste in films sometimes, so I'm adding that one to my want-to-watch list to check it out. Thx for the recommendation! :)
DeleteI'm the watch-whatever-is-on kind of person. So I'm surprised I've even seen two on the list... Boyhood and Spirited Away... This birthday my boyfriend gifted me a 100 Greatest Movies of the Century coffee-table book, quite possibly to nudge me towards watching some of them... a book on the topic is a good way to get me interested in something! The book looks cool too.

I've found some movies that way that I've ended up buying on DVD and re-watching. I have a book called _1,001 Movies You Must See Before You Die_.
