a 1983 song by The Police.
Lyrics:
My sisters and IShared as part of the weekly T Tuesday gathering at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog.
Have this wish before we die.
And it may sound strange
As if our minds are deranged.
Please don't ask us why
Beneath the sheltering sky
We have this strange obsession
You have the means in your possession.
We want our tea in the Sahara with you.
We want our tea in the Sahara with you.
The young man agreed
He would satisfy their need
So they danced for his pleasure
With a joy you could not measure.
They would wait for him here
The same place every year.
Beneath the sheltering sky
Across the desert he would fly.
Tea in the Sahara with you.
Tea in the Sahara with you.
The sky turned to black-
Would he ever come back?
They would climb a high dune
They would pray to the moon.
But he'd never return,
So the sisters would burn
As their eyes searched the land
With their cups full of sand.
Tea in the Sahara with you.
Tea in the Sahara with you..........
Lovely idea, I love the song! Thanks for sharing the video and lyrics, happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteFunny--I think Sting could sing anything and it would sound hauntingly otherworldly. ;)

'new to me' song...but very nice. of course I just remember their hit "I'll be watching you..." but the lyrics on this one are perfect for Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard this before, but it is always nice to hear Sting's haunting voice! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh... one of my favorite Police songs♥ Thanks for sharing !!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Police, and Sting's voice is so distinct, isn't it? This is a wonderful and really clever video for T this Tuesday. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing it with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteBTW, did I remember that you read about Darla’s home in the mountains? I saw video yesterday about the area. In case you didn't get the update, her home there is completely gone, ravaged by fire. That’s one of the reasons why she didn’t share T with us this week. She was very lucky to get out before the fire got too close to her and her granddaughter.
I subscribe to Darla's blog in my newsreader and was shocked by her news. I had seen a video on our local news about how one of the fires in CA had destroyed an entire town, and I had wondered if it was close to her. I'll be looking for updates, but this is such a blow she may not be up to sharing for a while. Thanks for making sure I knew. I really appreciate that.
DeleteThanks for sharing the song and the video! I love Sting and Police.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Tuesday,
Have agood week,
Lisca
