Swiss Pantry

The staff at the state park where we stayed on vacation last month recommended the Swiss Pantry as a good place to eat, so one day we checked it out. The food looked good, but we had sadly already eaten lunch. We did have room for dessert:

They offered free coffee and a small seating area.

There was a small bakery section and sweets galore. You can take a virtual tour:

and see photos of their products at their website here. They have a Facebook page.

This little side-stop was a fun addition to our week at Tims Ford State Park.

Back at home now, we looked forward to the eclipse. Memphis got the eclipse at 93%, and we were prepared with our home-made viewers:

As it got close to time, though, the cloud cover increased:

The rain began soon after:

The next total eclipse will be viewable from Hot Springs, and I plan on going for it!

Please join the weekly blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth where we share a post that includes a drink.

  1. You did get rain, didn't you? I bet your plants were singing Hallelujah though. Wow- you still saw way more eclipse in your box viewer than I saw in mine. But I see you are close to the 2024 one also. I am going for it too since it passes through NH then also. We can keep our fingers crossed it won't rain then, but it will be April so with my luck here in NH we might have a snow storm. (Oh mercy). Anyhow, the brownie looks yummy. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  2. The Swiss Pantry looks like a wonderful place and I enjoyed the virtual tour 😁. I enjoyed seeing the solar eclipse in your homemade viewers too, that's really cool! Wow, the rain really came down afterwards! I love to watch and listen to the rain so seeing the video of your beautiful yard was perfect 😁. Happy T Tuesday! J 😊

  3. there is always room for a Little pastry, isn´t it?
we had a total eclipse here in Germany in 1999 and i remember it well. it was a bit eerie when it went dark in the noon... very impressive!

  4. Boy that Swiss Pantry has everything-wow! I wonder if the solar eclipse causes changes in weather and rain? We only got to see a very partial eclipse but an hour or so later there were warnings going off for severe thunderstorms with heavy winds and hail-what?? It hadn't been predicted the day before. Thankfully at least we didn't get anything in our spot. Your garden is lush and so pretty, and I do love a summer rain. Thanks for the videos and happy T day!

  5. I hope you have better luck with your homemade eclipse viewers in Hot Springs, D.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  6. The Swiss pantry looks great, yummy chocolate cake. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  7. The Swiss Pantry looks like a nice place for drinks and cake

Such a shame the rain came when you were looking forward to the eclipse..better luck next time and a Haapy T Day

    Love Chrissie xx

  8. I would rather have the rain than see the eclipse.............neither of which I got....LOL! We got a partial eclipse here in So. Cal......not much to get excited about. I remember the one in 1979 so I didn't feel too left out!
Happy T-day..........the Swiss Pantry looks very inviting.

  9. The Swiss Pantry looks a wonderful place to stop and eat food and to take some home with you. I enjoyed the virtual visit.
It a shame that the eclipse was spoiled by the rain.
    Happy T day.
    Yvonne xx

  10. Beautiful patio with a wonderful variety of plants! Love the sound of rain...happy T day.

  11. Swiss Pantry looks nice. My area was in the 65% obscuration. It was cloudy in some areas so the event wasn't visible. I was visiting friends and it was cloudy, but the clouds cleared long enough for us to view the eclipse.

  12. I feel SO bad I've been offline all day, resting and staying in bed. As a result, I haven't checked my blog until I was ready to upload my Wednesday post.

The Swiss Pantry looks fantastic and I enjoyed seeing the menu, too. Looks like they sell a LOT of products, but I was most impressed with the sandwich menu, which seemed to be quite reasonable.

Your eclipse and mine were quite similar. Very impressive, and I think I'd like to visit somewhere closer to the total event in 2024, too.

Thanks for sharing your eclipse event as well as your trip to Swiss Pantry and your FREE coffee with us for T this Tuesday.

  13. we were lucky as we had thick cloud cover early morning and then it cleared off and got hot and humid-just in time to watch the eclipse-I loved it--we were at 98% where I live the dessert looks delicious
    Happy T Day Kathy

  14. We traveled from Cleveland, Ohio to View the eclipse in Kentucky. WE were going to try to make Hopkinsville but ended up stopping in Bardstown and watched from there it got to 96% of total.

    1. I knew it would be cloudy wherever we went ;) but next time we're going to try to see the totality. If it rains, then at least we'll be in Hot Springs, right? We can take the baths instead :)

  15. There are so many baking supplies I'd love to try and treats to eat--OMG! What a wonderful place!
Your garden looks fantastic!! It was cloudy here, too, for the eclipse--so it just got darker like before a rain storm...which you actually got--LOL! :)

  16. Just the name Swiss Pantry makes me want to wander in and see what they are serving. We were socked in under a heavy marine layer so no viewing the eclipse here. We were only due for 60% coverage to begin with.

  17. The Swiss Pantry looks fantastic and I enjoy your special new header - lol!

  18. The Swiss Pantry does look fabulous! Pleased you got to see the eclipse! Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx

  19. If it rains, then at least we'll be in Hot Springs, right? We can take the baths instead :)
