Only the Valiant
Only the Valiant is a 1951 Western film directed by Gordon Douglas and starring Gregory Peck, Ward Bond, Gig Young, Lon Chaney, Jr., Neville Brand, Jeff Corey (who has a Star Trek connection), Michael Ansara (who was also in Star Trek), Warner Anderson, Steve Brodie, and Terry Kilburn (Tiny Tim in the 1938 Reginald Owen Christmas Carol). I have to feel sorry for Chaney, who, I think, deserves better than he gets in these kinds of roles.
Time Out calls it "surprisingly astringent" and is impressed with Peck. DVD Talk says, "The film is charming for its classic qualities". History on Film describes it as a "by-the-numbers western".
