Moria has a review. Senses of Cinema has a page that says, "Yellow Submarine is constantly a feast for the eyes and every frame bursts with invention." The New York Times calls it "a family movie in the truest sense". Roger Ebert says it is
the most original and inventive feature-length animated cartoon since the days when Walt Disney was still thinking up innovations.

It is beautifully simple and childlike on one level, and erudite and deep on another.
There's a remake in the works.
