Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales

Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales is a 1979 television special:

I remember Bugs Bunny and Looney Toons from Saturday morning TV viewing in my childhood, but this one came out long after my childhood was but a memory.

*******
Speaking of "looney"... is anybody else watching the Republicans in the House of Representatives crowing about their majority but not able to elect a Speaker of the House after 6 ballots?

The Stingiest Man in Town (1956)

The Stingiest Man in Town is a 1956 musical adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol from The Alcoa Hour. Basil Rathbone is Scrooge with Vic Damone as Young Scrooge. John McGiver is one of the charity men. I'm just now discovering this one, and I'm sad for the lost years I didn't get to watch it. It's well-done and worth watching.

via YouTube:

This Christmas Specials Wiki has this:
For a long time, this version of the musical was thought to be a lost film, a victim of the lack of preservation of many early television broadcasts. By chance, a copy of the master reel was found in the home of a retired executive for Alcoa, and restored...
Christmas TV History says,
In its day, The Stingiest Man in Town was received with high praise from TV viewers and critics alike. ... One of the details of this particular production that stands out in people's minds is the unforgettable portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge by actor Basil Rathbone. ... Special effects created during a live production are just some of the fine details that went into making this one of TV's finest holiday moments.

Scrooge and Marley (2001)

Scrooge and Marley is a dreadful 2001 adaptation of the famous Dickens story. The only reason to watch this one is if you need something that's heavy-handed with the Christian faith angle and if you don't mind misplaced and poorly played humorous elements. Seriously, there are so many excellent adaptations and plenty of perfectly fine ones. Why watch a bad version? I didn't finish it.

But you can see for yourself if you like:

Rich Little's Christmas Carol

Rich Little's Christmas Carol is a 1978 retelling of the Dickens story. It is a one-man performance with Rich Little playing all the roles impersonating famous people. Not my thing. I don't care for impersonators, I'm not a W.C. Fields fan and he's Scrooge, there's a lame laugh track... I found it too painful to finish.

A Carol for Another Christmas

A Carol for Another Christmas is a 1964 television movie. Wikipedia says it's
scripted by Rod Serling as a modernization of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and a plea for global cooperation. It was the first in a planned series of television specials developed to promote the United Nations and educate viewers about its mission.
It is directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and is the only television program he ever directed. It stars Britt Ekland, Ben Gazzara, Sterling Hayden, Steve Lawrence, Eva Marie Saint, and Peter Sellers. It was politically relevant then; sadly, it's politically relevant now.

Mickey's Christmas Carol

Mickey's Christmas Carol is a 1983 animated version with Mickey Mouse as Cratchit, Scrooge McDuck as Scrooge, and Donald Duck as Fred. I don't know how many adaptations there have been for A Christmas Carol, but sometimes I think there's one for every television show and character. This one is fun if you like these characters.

A Christmas Carol (1982)

This Australian film is an animated adaptation of A Christmas Carol from 1982. To be honest, the animated adaptations often seem much of a muchness to me. I find the background music in this one to be annoying. This isn't by far the worst one I've seen, but I won't watch it again.
