Hamilton (2020)

Hamilton (Disney+) is a 2020 biographical musical drama film, a live stage recording of the 2015 Broadway musical of the same name. It stars Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hamilton and Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr. I expected it to be a bit along the lines of 1776, and it is nothing like that. This is much more a look at Hamilton the person than a view of the historical times. I'm glad I've seen it if only to see what all the fuss was about but won't rewatch it. Everybody else gives it rave reviews.

  1. I've seen this too. I liked it. I'm not one of those Hamiliton crazy fans, but I am glad it came out ithough since I don't know if I'll ever see it on the stage.

    1. Some musicals are more watchable than others for folks whose "thing" isn't musicals. Not this one I don't think.

  4. Confession: I tried to watch this twice and just couldn't get into it. I know how wildly popular this has been. Not sure why I couldn't stick with it?

  6. I saw the play and I was one of the few people in the audience who wasn't impressed (although that may have had to do with a touring cast, funky diction and a less than perfect sound system). I have this on my Disney watch list but haven't been able to make myself do it yet. Maybe this summer. With closed captions on.

    1. This is something I wanted to see because of all the fuss and the certain knowledge that I'd never see it in person lol

  7. I remember the hype about the play on Broadway. I'd love to see it just once.
