I was actually SHOCKED when I read yesterday that Woodstock celebrated its 50th anniversary. It seems those songs will never die, but will hopefully live on in our hearts. People have told me I was born a generation too late, because these and the Scott McKenzie song you showcased today are the ones I love more than the ones I grew up to. What a joy to hear this again. May he rest in peace.
1967 - I graduated in 1968. This brings back so many memories! His was an iconic song of the idealistic youth--the hippies--the flower children. I am still a flower child. :)
This is a fabulous song. I can hear it now in my head. I will have to put a flower in my hair today in memory. Hugs-Erika

ReplyDeleteI was too young to participate in the counter-culture, but I remember the music well. We didn't get the Age of Aquarius I expected :(

ReplyDeleteI'd've been in elementary school, and that vibe led me to expect a different kind of world than I actually grew up to find. What happened? :(
DeleteMemories of a wonderful time when we had such big hopes for a peaceful future. Valerie
ReplyDeleteSuch hopes we had! And now we have Trump. I cry for our future :(
