Captain Blood is a 1935 adventure film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, and Basil Rathbone. Flynn is a wrongly convicted and enslaved doctor who escapes to become a pirate. The Husband loves the swashbuckler movies, and this is a classic example.

Slant Magazine gives it 3 out of 4 stars, particularly praising "Flynn’s wicked, wicked charm".
Variety has a positive review.
Rotten Tomatoes has a critics score of 100%.
I had to laugh at wicked, wicked charm.
ReplyDeleteThat Flynn, he had a twinkle in his eye ;)
DeleteCouldn't get it to play but I probably saw this decades ago. He really did have a wicked, wicked charm. Dashing with a twinkle in his eye and the hint of a smile always on his lips. You can see why he was the popular heartthrob of the day (who may well have been bisexual, but who knows...so many rumors).
ReplyDeleteWell, bummer :( Flynn's movies are definitely worth watching. We are movie lovers, though, and I'm sure we both saw it on tv years ago.
