Like you, I´m not fan of guns, but have a burning interest in all things war; a way to handle my fear, I guess, and the current war in the Ukraine has made me realize just how afraid I am. My father was a child during the war, very close to the eastern front the whole time (never talks about it), and he dreamed of going to America when he grew up. He got as far as Sweden, for which I am grateful, as I wouldn´t have been if he hadn´t met my mother.

I wish there wouldn´t be any wars, but as there are, I´m so very grateful for those who fight against aggressors, even when they are not personally being attacked.Viktoria Berghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00608160759512904861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28337090.post-35083962777924763812014-11-12T00:22:28.125-08:002014-11-12T00:22:28.125-08:00I think a lot of the men who were in WWII didn'...I think a lot of the men who were in WWII didn't like to talk about it, I know my Grandfather never spoke much about his time in a POW camp in Poland but like you, I remember him and all the others on days like this and think about what they went through to make a better world for their loved ones.voodoo vixenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05969587296959836879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28337090.post-9770167985472699172014-11-11T22:19:00.945-08:002014-11-11T22:19:00.945-08:00Amen!

So many are sharing the story of poppies today, and I confess, I will too, in another hour.

Regardless how we feel about war, we need to honor those who served and those who didn't come home. I know so many people who have been in war. No one from WWII, but other wars. And they didn't want to talk about it, either. I'm so glad we finally realized these brave people were suffering from PTSD, and should get all the help they deserve.

Your post is beautiful, thought provoking, and right on point for T this Tuesday. And I'll raise my glass right along with you. BTW, from what I know of war (and that isn't much), I think that statue represents WWI, which "celebrates" its 100 anniversary today.Bleubeard and Elizabethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10149710375520733752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28337090.post-71903095421245440802014-11-11T04:57:40.683-08:002014-11-11T04:57:40.683-08:00My Dad, like yours, really never wanted to talk ab...My Dad, like yours, really never wanted to talk about his service in WWII.
