Silky O'Sullivan's

The Son-In-Law treated The Daughter and me to lunch at Silky O'Sullivan's, a storied restaurant with resident goats -yes, goats!- on Beale Street. We sat on the patio:

and had hamburgers, and they were delicious!

You can read the full menu here. The service was perfect, topping off a delightful outing. It's wonderful when you can wholeheartedly, without reservation, recommend a restaurant. I do have to say Memphis has many restaurants like that.

This video of one of the goats was taken several years ago:

This is the view we had along the Mississippi River on our way to and from the car:

You can park closer, of course, but we enjoy walking in downtown Memphis.

  1. What a lovely outing & how generous of your SiL. Goats, I like but they do have a particular scent ...

    1. Yes, it's good they have a decent-sized outside space and that they are well cared for. We sat at one of those tables right next to the fencing, and there was no smell at all.

  2. This looks like a great place to eat. I think having those goats is interesting and probably a good way to use up some scraps too. But I see you don't get to pat them. Probably better- goats can be awful invasive-nibbling off your plates and even butting people. But sounds like a lot of fun, and cool to see the goats. have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

    1. I think the idea is more to protect the goats from the people than the other way around ;) but goats can be pushy animals....

  3. I could barely believe this was in downtown Memphis. It looks like a really fun, albeit rather warm place to eat. The goat was a hoot. So glad you, your daughter, and SIL got to together. She's been hiding from your blog for awhile.

I'm curious. What is the pyramid structure on the right side of the last photo? Is it new?

    1. There's a nice variety of places on Beale.

The pyramid is indeed a pyramid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memphis_Pyramid and was constructed around 1990 as a sports venue -The Tomb of Doom ;)

It's now a Bass Pro Shop megastore and includes restaurants, a hotel, a viewing platform at the top, an aquarium, and such as well as products you might expect at a Bass Pro shop. https://stores.basspro.com/us/tn/memphis/1-bass-pro-dr.html

    1. Downtown Memphis is full of surprises lol The owner opened the original location of this restaurant back in the 70s, so it and the goats are a Memphis institution.
