Cameron Mitchell

When I was young, I was a big fan of the western tv series The High Chaparral, which starred Cameron Mitchell. He was my favorite character in the show, and ever since then I've watched for him in movies. He died on this date in 1994 of lung cancer when he was 75 years old.

I have blog posts on these of his films:

They Were Expendable (1945)
Death of a Salesman (1951)
Flight to Mars (1951)
Les Misérables (1952)
Inside the Mafia (1959)
Three Came to Kill (1960)
Blood and Black Lace (1964)
The Last Gun (1964)
Minnesota Clay (1964)
Knives of the Avenger (1966)
Ride in the Whirlwind (1966)
Maneater of Hydra (1967)
Nightmare in Wax (1969)
Rebel Rousers (1970)
Haunts (1977)
Without Warning (1980)
Killpoint (1984)
The Tomb (1986)

Here are the opening and closing credits for The High Chaparral:

    1. I am still a fan of Mitchell, but it's been many a long year since I saw the beloved tv show. It's never been one I've noticed being syndicated.

  2. Once again, another show I have never seen. Seems you've been honoring him a LOT over the years. Fans like you keep his memory alive. Thanks for sharing these links and the short video.

    1. It was probably before your time. I don't remember how I first came across it, but he made a fan of me during the first episode I saw.

  3. Nope, didn't watch it. I remember the music, so maybe my dad and brother did. By the time that came on I was a senior in high school--more interested in Carol Burnett, Andy Griffith, Laugh In, Smothers Brothers (kind of escape from the Vietnam Wart and all the rioting and protesting over anything and everything)...but there was only one TV and my dad insisted on Gunsmoke and Bonanza...so I had a crush on Little Joe! ;

    1. Manolito and Billy Blue would've been the young, handsome characters on the High Chaparral. I watched Gunsmoke and Bonanza with my family, but didn't have a particular interest in any of the characters. Well, except for Adam, that oldest son, who left to go to sea. I didn't care for Carol Burnett or Andy Griffith but loved Laugh-In and Smothers Bros.
