Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell is the 2017 live action adaptation based on the Japanese manga of the same name. Scarlett Johansson stars. I'm not sure how much sense this would make if you're not familiar with the characters and story.

trailer:

Ghost in the Shell doesn't have "ghosts" as we think of them. The word refers to the living spirit of the person that is maintained throughout the process of increasing mechanical augmentation. The 2017 movie is rated PG-13, but not all the shows are suitable for children.

Try the 1995 film (a $1.99 rental) first:

and then the first few of the Stand Alone Complex:

Once you've seen these, though, you won't wanna quit there. We are fans and have them all on DVD.

  2. Mr Man really likes the movie The Ghost In The Shell, he had tried to get into the Japanese version but just couldn't fully commit. He owns the movie, but I have still not sat through it with him ...

  3. Sounds facinating and looking at the plot your suggestion of watching the other movies in the series first would be helpful 😁. Thanks and wishing you a wonderful weekend! J 😊 x

  4. I've never really tried either reading or watching anime, but after being in Japan, I think I should try. It's interesting to see how much actually exists. There was SOOOO much of it in Japan. Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika

    1. I like some anime much better than others. I just tried Black Butler and didn't care for it at all, but I've always liked Ghost in the Shell.

  5. You'll never believe which DVD I have here to watch tonight--LOL! Dagan and Leah's request. I had never heard of it. But I just went and looked on Netflix streaming and there are three anime movies I can watch. "Arise" series looks like. I may have to peek at one before I watch the movie so I have a better idea what is going on, like you said. Thanks. :)
