Coffee in a Cardboard Cup

Coffee in a Cardboard Cup:

sung by Mandy Patinkin, who celebrated his 63rd birthday yesterday. He's a favorite around our house.

Lyrics excerpt:
The trouble with the world today is plain to see
Is everything is hurry up
It's "rush it through"
"Don't be slow"
"BLT on rye to go"
And coffee
I think she said 'coffee'
I know she said 'coffee
In a cardboard cup'
Ain't it the truth! But maybe during this season we can slow down a bit, take our time, and relish what is now.

  1. A new tune for me. Thanks! I'm not just wild about coffee in a cardboard cup - better than styrofoam tho.

    1. You might better remember him from his film career: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandy_Patinkin#Film Most people remember him from The Princess Bride; we love him in that. He also played Jason Gideon in the Criminal Minds tv series. He's also done a lot on the stage; he won a Tony for his role in Evita. Here he is on Letterman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3yhncod0WA

  12. I'm also a big fan of Mandy Patinkin. I was sad when he left Criminal Minds, but I knew he had a better gig on Broadway when he did. I've only seen parts of Princess Bride, but I remember thinking how funny he was, something I 'd never seen in him before.

I agree we should slow down, get rid of those cardboard cups and drink out of something REAL. Thanks for sharing this with us for T this Tuesday. I really enjoyed it.

    1. I read that Patinkin left Criminal Minds because he was disturbed by the increasing and graphic nature of the show's violence: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/mandy-patinkin-criminal-minds-370339

  15. LOL This was a new side to Patinkin for me, but clearly, this is something he does a lot and is very good at. Perhaps it´s just not part of the Patinkin package that exports much abroad. Love it. Happy T-Day, though I am not participating this time.
