On the Avenue

We tried out Avenue Coffee's patio early this summer and loved it. Avenue Coffee is fairly new, and here's hoping they do well. They don't seem to have a website other than their Facebook page, and I can't find a copy of their menu online.

We each had a 10 oz pour over coffee. The Husband also had a blueberry muffin and The Daughter also had a chocolate chip muffin:

The patio was very pleasant and inviting:

The prices were reasonable; but The Husband paid, and I forgot to ask him what the total was. The pour-over concept seems to be spreading in the local coffee shops. They use ceramic, while we use a plastic cone at home. It's fun to see the different ways of making coffee.

Choose 901 has photos and a positive review. Yelp gives it 5 out of 5 stars with 7 reviews.

Please join Bleubeard and Elizabeth for their T party. There's a lot more than tea goin' on over there.

  2. I agree with you both. I'd LOVE to have that patio on the back of my house! Of course, I'd have to plant a tree (grin). I'm glad you enjoyed the place.

Nice photo of your family. I like shots like that. You can "see" the persons, but wouldn't be able to recognize them if you passed them on the street.

I wanted to tell you, in your comment you said "retail area." That is not true because everything there is FREE. You are limited to 10 items a month per vehicle, but I've never had a problem with that and I don't usually have anything to drop off, either. As for private facility, it is a county owned facility. Not sure if that makes it private, but the guy told me you couldn't take photos in any Sedgwick County facility. I've either been lucky in the past, or they just started cracking down, because I have ALWAYS taken photos of the facility and the interior every time I went.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us for T this Tuesday.

    1. The tree is an oak iirc, and it's got great shade there! I was glad I could get the pictures (as you say, visible but not identifiable).

I wonder what they're afraid of. Governments officials seem to misunderstand their duty so often, I think. They believe it's their job to control as much as possible & forbid as much as possible. I'd love to hear their rationale for forbidding photos.

  5. Lovely patio and I am with Hubby...a blueberry muffin for me.
We need to stay outside as long as we can before it changes to winter.

  6. Lovely patio built around the tree! Those muffins look yummy. Now if they serve tea, it would be perfect!

    1. I'm not sure they have tea, but that would make it perfect, wouldn't it! Happy T Tuesday :)

  7. Okay--I had to google pour over coffee so I would know exactly what you were talking about. That is like the old drip pots--cool! This would be a perfect contraption to have over at Dagan and Leah's (who don't drink coffee). I never liked pressed coffee because you get so many grounds--or at least I did when I had somebody make it for me. Thanks! And Happy T-Day! :)

  8. hey, cool deck around the tree...the tables outside with your coffee look so inviting. I have a 'drip' coffee pot so maybe that is similar to 'pour over.' and I too love muffins with my coffee! a sweet post for Tuesday...

    1. There are similarities. Pour-over coffee is manually done, with the water poured over the grounds a little bit at the time. I can tell a difference when I drink them. Pour over really brings out the flavor. Muffins with coffee, yes! :)

  9. I too never heard the term 'pour over' coffee even though my husband is a die hard coffee drinker. Mainly I'm a tea drinker, strong British tea but decaf. However about 3pm each day we have an espresso here at home with our Nespresso machine. It's a nice break from the things we do all day.
