Was the Garden of Eden in Tennessee?

photo from tnvacation.com

If the Earth was created 6,000 years ago, and these newly-discovered cave drawings were made 6,000 years ago, and the only people around 6,000 years ago were in the Garden of Eden.... We may have to re-write those books, y'all.

CNN, The Chicago Tribune, The Huffington Post and others have more information.

  2. It IS a lovely spot to think of as Eden.

Thanks for dropping by. I apologize that I've been gone and missed so much. I agree that Memphis is a wonderful city to visit. I once spent three days there on my way to Dallas, and loved every minute. The other time I was in Memphis I was on my way to the World's Fair in Knoxville. I had just started college and some friends bet me I wouldn't go to the fair. Don't bet me something I'm willing to try (tee hee)!!

I have nothing but GOOD memories of Memphis. It's a lovely city as long as you go in the spring or fall. Summers are WAY too hot for me, but they are in KS, too.

BTW, I noted the lilies I posted WERE called either Surprise Lilies or Naked Ladies. You have a sharp eye, because my camera is pretty lousy.

    1. i love our summers but only because i love the heat. we're having 115-110 heat index the last couple of days. dew point is around 85! i'm glad your experience here was a good one. :)

mother had surprise lilies. one day, nothing. the next day, up and blooming lol or that's what it seemed like. so pretty.

  3. This is very intriguing, I love the mystery of archeology! And I like your idea about Eden. Your area really seems very beautiful and well worth a visit (particularly if there are guided tours to places like this). I´m not sure I could take that kind of heat, though; anything over 85 is not fit for humans, I think. I would have to come in the winter. Does it snow much?

    1. the picture above is not from around here. if i remember right, that place is in east tennessee a day's drive away.

we do have some snow but not much. it's a cause of great excitement when there's enough snow to stick on the ground. we're more likely to get ice, which people here can't drive in. we always have lots of wrecks because people hit little ice patches and lose control of their cars. it'd be funny if people didn't get hurt.

my daughter says in sweden people have to get their driving licenses during the winter so they can be tested on the ice. her friend learned to drive by waiting 'til the lake behind their property froze over and driving on it.

if you come in may for the music and/or bbq festivals, the weather is not nearly as hot as it is now. highs in may would definitely be under 85. august is our hottest month, but the best for elvis fans. they come from everywhere, some dressed as elvis impersonators. great fun!

    2. It is true that we have to be tested in ice conditions, but there are skidding courses/tracks (or how you might translate that) that work in summer too, though perhaps not everywhere in the country. I took my skidding test in August, I think.

Icy ground is not funny, I think. Slipping accidents happen all the time here, and several of my friends have had their arms broken. Not me, though, for some reason every time I fall, I land on my back and don´t even have time to attempt to catch myself, which is when you break them. It´s probably the way I walk, how I distribute weight, or something. I fall often enough, but luckily so far, I just loose my breath for a minute...

A bbq-festival, that would certainly appeal to the husband! Am making additional notes! Thanks!
