Mushrooms

Every once in a while we get mushrooms pop up out in the grass. It surprises me how many people seem almost offended by their presence. They are probably the same people who want the violets poisoned. I like the mushrooms and the violets.

  1. I like the mushrooms and am forever snapping photos of them; all are different. I'm not that fond of the violets, however; they tend to smother out my other things.

    1. i'm glad i took this picture when i did, because they'd been knocked over the next day. the violets do tend to take over, but i'd rather see them in the lawn than grass, or rather dirt where grass won't grow.

  2. Mushsrooms always seem a bit magical to me - you know, fairies and all that stuff. I like violets too. Never had any in our yard though.

    1. this is the only kind of mushroom we see in the lawn here. we've lived in places where we saw the little reddish ones in actual circles, and that did felt magical.

  3. A couple of years ago we took down a large maple tree in our front yard. Ever since then we have had a large variety of different mushrooms, especially when it is really wet.

  4. I've been wanting to find mushrooms for awhile, because I want to make something similar to flower pounding with them. It's too dry here for that, though.

Sorry I've been absent (AGaIN). Seems I'm chasing lists (as in blog hops) and haven't taken time to visit my true friends.
