Old Cars

I saw my car on the road the other day -the exact same make, model, year, trim, everything. That might not sound too exciting, but my car is over 20 years old. I don't see its like around much anymore. It's paid for, though, which is nice. Repair bills are no fun, of course, but it's cheaper than a replacement car would be.

The photo at the top of the post is from Wikipedia and sadly bears no resemblance to my car.

  1. I keep my cars forever if I can. I have a 2008 car now. I hope to have it a long time too. I like no car payments at all.

Is is my imagination or has it thunder stormed like five or six notes in a row. I am loving it. Good sleeping weather.

    1. i agree with you. i am a firm believer in keeping a car long past when most people think it makes more sense to replace it. mine's a 1991. lol

that storm was something, wasn't it. we watched it while we ate pizza and watched leverage episodes on dvd. i like timothy hutton, and we think that show is great fun. it reminds me of the old mission impossible series.

looks like fall weather is beginning.

  2. I will have to check out Leverage.

Yes fall is beginning and I love it.

I love to watch storms. My only wish is no one gets hurt. Apparently, there was hit and run body versus car last night at Union and McLean. I remember ambulances on corner about 10:30 p.m. Here is the strange thing the lady that got hit by car last night was in Coffeehouse tonight in wheelchair with friend pushing her. They stopped cop who came in for coffee to ask what they should do now. Who gets hit by vehicle then is able to come into Coffeehouse the next night. And this incident happened when raining. I was kind of stumped. She must have not been hit head on. I, myself, was hot by car outside of 201 Poplar. I was stunned but not seriously hurt. I had over 200 witnesses plus a lot of police. It is easy to get hit when no one is paying attention. I was walking where I was suppose too and the light indicated I could walk. I saw the car take the corner and I said surely he sees me then I jumped back as far as I could. My dicks were outside smoking too when I got hit. God was watching over me cuz it felt like I had been hit by pillow. Oh that would be an awful way to die. Run over by a car.

Boy I get sidetracked in these comments. Humor me please.

sounds like somebody who wants coffee bad! lol. maybe she wanted to re-visit the scene for closure or to make sure she was getting the scene right for a report on the accident while it was still fresh for her. i'm glad she was able to get out instead of being hurt so bad she had to be in the hospital.

it is dangerous out there for pedestrians. drivers aren't used to seeing many, i don't think, and always seem surprised to see a person in the street.

it's nice when comments get conversational. i kinda like it. :)

  3. I am happy u said that last part about comments get conversational. I hope I do not tire my blogging friends when I get so "winded" with my comments.

She looked ok. Thank goodness. It was so dark and rainy when the incident occurred. I had a Traffic cop in there getting coffee at that moment and I commented it must not be a fatal one--the accident because that night he was the one to get called for fatalities or if they thought they might pass later on. They just do not show up on ever scene and there were already lot of police and ambulance. Drivers sometimes r not paying attention and pedestrians too.

    1. my venerable old car wouldn't start when i was done at mother's this morning, so i just left it on her parking lot and walked home. i didn't feel like waiting for triple a, and my husband can jump start it for me when he gets home. if that doesn't do the trick we can have it towed then.

i didn't have any trouble on this walk. i try to vary my routes when i walk it, and this route had long sections with no sidewalk. the ground was flat, though, so in some ways that was easier than concrete. i got passed by a bicycle and 2 runners and met several other walkers on the way. folks were pleasant, and car traffic was light.

i would love to have a bicycle. i remember the picture you posted of the 3-wheeler.
